WASHINGTON -- U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday threatened the deployment of the military to quell the nationwide protests over the death of George Floyd, the black man who died in police custody last week in Minneapolis.
"If a city or state refuses to take the actions necessary to defend the life and property of their residents, then I will deploy the United States military and quickly solve the problem for them," Trump said at the White House Rose Garden. LOS ANGELES -- A countywide curfew will be in effect Monday for a second night in Los Angeles County after another day of protests over the death of African American man George Floyd in police custody last week in Minneapolis, authorities said.
County officials announced that the curfew for the most populous county in the United States with a population of over 10 million will run from 6 p.m. Monday to 6 a.m. Tuesday local time (0100 to 1300 GMT Tuesday). (US-LA-Curfew)
